Congratulations on your 1 year old baby!

Your one year old baby's confidence will continue to increase and she will feel more and more independent. If she already hand feeds herself of a plate or highchair, it's likely that she'll start using a spoon now. She will surely make a mess, but it's fun to watch and interact with her while she struggles to aim the spoon at her mouth.

10 Month Old Baby

Remember the little flashcards game mentioned in the earlier months? Now it's time to put your 10 month old baby's understanding to the test. He might not be able to say 'Hat', but display a small number of cards on the floor, including the hat one and ask him to point at the hat. He probably won't at first, but he will actually point in the end, guaranteed. You can also ask him 'Where's daddy?' and he'll look in his dad's direction. Encourage him by saying 'Point!' and he will probably point. If he doesn't at first, show him what pointing means and he will get there in no time.

These very basic exercises will soon turn into waving bye-byes, clapping hands and hiding faces behind hands.

11 Month Old Baby

Language, mobility and communication development are all boosting from now on. Starting from now, you will observe every little gesture of your 11 month old baby because every day he'll come up with something new.

This is the time to encourage more independence too, by leaving your 11 month old baby playing on his own in a safe area, such as a playpen or the floor with no sharp corners or open plugs. Read more info on safety for your baby.

9 Month Old Baby

You may find that baby goes through a period of extreme clinginess and disinterest in anybody else but your partner. She might even refuse to smile at, or babble away with them as she used to. This is called separation anxiety and all you can do is reassure your baby with cuddles and wait for her to make her first step towards others. The phase will pass pretty soon.
